Jacob Martin
Nashville, TN

Jacob Martin’s relationship with music deepened at age 8 when he was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre Syndrome. Paralyzed from the waist down the Shriners Hospital provided critical care as Jacob battled this debilitating disease and provided surgeries and rehab at no cost to him or his family. While the Shriners helped him fight the physical battle he focused his emotional and mental energy on music. Lyrics from the Michael Card Song Meditation / Baptism “The deaf will hear, and the dumb will talk, The blind will see, and the lame will walk” played over and over in my head. It gave me the strength to physically pull myself up and begin to push through my recovery. Music has quite literally saved my life,” he professed.

Growing up in a small town and unable to participate in sports – Jacob spent his time developing musically. Jacob sang acapella, wrote lyrics and exposed himself to a variety of musical genres. As he continued to grow – he asked his mother, a singer and self-taught guitar player, to teach him some chords so he could take it to the next level. Growing up in rural Iowa listening to Garth Brooks and Sawyer Brown – it was a natural progression for young Jacob Martin to infuse country music into his personal style.

“I sang in church, won the 3rd grade talent show, played a lot of gigs . . . then rock n roll got a hold of me” says Martin. “Once I saw U2’s Rattle & Hum at age 16 I officially decided that I wanted music to become my career. I started a band with my big brother and our father got into running live sound. My family was really supportive,” says Jacob.

In his early-twenties, Jacob was persuaded to move to larger markets to take his career to the next level. Jacob explains – “It’s been many years on a roller coaster ride of ups and downs! A lot of BAD motels, friends houses with make shift couch cushion beds, lots of heartbreaks . . . you may ask why do I KEEP going? If I didn’t have the utter most passion for music and to see a dream through, I would’ve been OUT a long time ago.”

In 2013 he released a limited edition EP, “Wraparound Porch,” which peaked at #42 on the Music Row chart after being released to national radio in January of 2013. The follow up EP, ‘Look At What You Started,’ released on October 21, 2014, with a debut iTunes country album chart position of #26 and #2 on the CMT Pure 12-pack & Sirius XM The Highway #OntheRise.

Jacobs quick success on the radio garnered attention from the likes of Keith Urban, Brantley Gilbert, Big and Rich, Kellie Pickler, Kyle Cook of Matchbox Twenty, Lee Brice, Thomas Rhett, and Dustin Lynch who offered Jacob opening slots on their tours.

While on the rise Jacob also was searching and during his search Jacob had found himself in need of being part of a recovery program. Jacob has found a new calling and has renewed his commitment to God and was re-baptized and now seeks to help others and spread a more positive message though his uplifting and inspirational music.

Moving forward Jacob will be recording music and spending time playing houses of worship and children’s hopsital’s to show disabled children that even being a disabled adult you can still be anything you want.
